In this day and age of eCommerce it isn’t enough to just have a great product, with an estimated 24 million or more eCommerce sites globally, how can you stand out from the rest of the competition and make those products finally start selling? Keep reading below to find out!
Having a great product available that you are trying to sell takes a lot more than just word of mouth or sharing it with friends and family. Nowadays if you want to offer a product or service you need to know how to create a good look that fits your brand, generates traffic/interest, gets it in front of people and makes those sales!
One of the biggest problems people have is they are not generating enough organic traffic. Think about it, eCommerce is like having a tiny shop that no one can just walk past and find because it is an alley hidden behind giant big box stores. You have to not only make people aware that the store exists with your products/services but also get them to come to visit and see what you have to offer.
This brings us to our next major problem if not the biggest problem and many people might not even know it. It is one of the most rampant that we have come across in the eCommerce space. It is the look/quality of your store/website. Sounds simple right? Apparently not, it is both the simplest and most overlooked.
So let's say you are starting to get a little traffic. Great! You finally have some potential customers coming into your little shop hidden in the back alley! Now you don’t want to spend all that time, effort and money to get a potential customer into your little shop in a back alley in the middle of nowhere, just for them to walk in and it is a mess! They finally made it to your store, and when they walk in the floors are coming up, the paint is peeling off the walls, products laid randomly around everywhere and completely disorganized. They are going to turn around and walk out of your little shop faster than it takes to hit the back button and very likely never return.
Your website or online store is like your physical storefront. You want it to be as nice as possible, clean, organized and easy to navigate. A lot of times with low-quality websites, the visitor may be enticed by the product or service only to not trust that the website is real or even safe to put their payment information into.
Your website will always be a reflection of you, your product/service or your business. Online presence for a business nowadays is imperative for a company. With so many competitors online trying to do the same thing you are, you have to stand out. Your website doesn’t have to be flashy or fancy in a lot of cases. But it should always be fast, responsive and high quality.
